Waamo Cafe Information

Tucked along 3rd St N in St. Cloud, Waamo Cafe is the kind of spot that quietly builds a loyal following through good food, friendly service, and a relaxed neighborhood feel. Located at 3419 3rd St N, the cafe sits in a convenient part of town that makes it easy to swing by for breakfast, lunch, or a casual coffee break. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming rather than rushed, with a simple dining space that focuses more on comfort and conversation than flashy decor.

One of the first things that stands out is how approachable the menu is. It leans toward classic cafe favorites but often reflects influences that give the dishes a bit more personality than what you might expect from a typical diner-style restaurant. Regulars frequently mention hearty breakfast plates, fresh sandwiches, and satisfying lunch options that hit the sweet spot between homemade comfort food and quick cafe service. Portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the flavors feel thoughtfully balanced rather than overly complicated.

During a recent visit, the breakfast options were especially impressive. A simple egg and toast plate arrived perfectly cooked, with crispy potatoes that clearly came off the grill just minutes earlier. The kind of detail that keeps people coming back is evident in small touches like well-seasoned sides and freshly brewed coffee that’s actually hot and flavorful instead of tasting like it’s been sitting on a burner all morning. When reading through online reviews, many guests echo similar experiences, often praising both the consistency of the food and the relaxed pace of the dining experience.

Service is another strong point. Staff members are attentive without hovering, and they seem genuinely comfortable chatting with customers about menu suggestions or daily specials. It’s common to see regulars greeted by name, which says a lot about how connected the cafe is to the local community. Even during busier morning hours, orders come out fairly quickly, suggesting the kitchen runs smoothly behind the scenes.

The location itself works well for both locals and travelers passing through St. Cloud. Being right on 3rd St N means it’s accessible without needing to navigate complicated downtown traffic, and there’s typically enough parking nearby to make stopping in easy. While detailed public data about the restaurant’s history isn’t widely documented, the steady stream of positive customer reviews across major dining platforms indicates that it has built a solid reputation among residents.

Overall, the dining experience feels genuine and unpretentious, which is often exactly what people are looking for in a neighborhood cafe. Whether someone stops in for a quick breakfast before work, a relaxed lunch with friends, or simply a good cup of coffee, the balance of friendly service, comforting food, and an easygoing atmosphere makes the place feel like a dependable local favorite.

What People's Say About Place

Wonderful, tasty and friendly!! Don’t know how they do such great things to black tea? The sambusa is always rich and savory. Thanks to Bishar and family for their hospitality!!

The half-and-half (half coffee, half Somali tea — sweetened, with milk) is not to be missed. Contender for best warm drink in MN, lol. Goes perfect with the very warm, slightly sweet Mandazi.

The food and the tea are amazing. The customer service is great. This location is must visit.

Nice place to stop for a treat after a long drive. The employee behind the counter was very helpful and explained everything they had in the display case. They recommended we try the half and half beverage which is half tea and half coffee. It was delicious! It has a flavour that's similar to chai and was nice and foamy around the top. The mandazi was tasty too and it's like a more airy version of frybread. The beef sambusa was flavourful as well.

The fish sambosas, chai, and cappuccinos are delicious! We'll be back next time we're in or near St. Cloud.

I was just looking for a local spot to grab a coffee and found this place had excellent reviews. They served me hands down one of the best lattes I've ever had! It was smooth and well crafted... just delicious! I can vouch for the chai and the mandazi - they were delightful as well. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. I will recommend this place and return.
